A range of extreme sports have already been realised in virtual reality (VR), including the likes of diving, skiing and more. Now House of Secrets, the developer behind VR experiences such as Lavaworld and Uncharted Territory has released a new experience based on snowboarding. The experience, simply named Snowboarding, is currently available to download for free over on the official Oculus VR Share Beta on PC.
The title is compatible with both the first and second development kits (DK1 and DK2) for the Oculus Rift. Players can simply journey down a mountain side, taking in the sights as they go. “We wanted to make a fun experience for the Oculus Rift,” the developer explains in the title’s description, “and what is more fun than virtually snowboarding (well, snowboarding). But this is as close as you’ll get to the real thing!”
Players can rotate both their body and board in the experience as well as charge a jump. At the start ot the title players can pick anywhere on the mountain side to spawn and even chose from a range of boards to ride. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all applications of VR, reporting back with any further updates.
