2014’s Eurogamer Expo in London is already set to be a surprisingly robust show for virtual reality (VR) when it takes place from 25th – 28th September. Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display (HMD) creator Oculus VR will have its own stand at the show, while VR compatible titles such as War Thunder will also be on display. Now another VR title has been added to the event’s lineup in the form of Frontier Development’s anticipated space combat experience, Elite: Dangerous.
The title, which features support for the Oculus Rift on PC, will be playable on the show floor, though it isn’t yet clear if the HMD will feature at its stand. Of course, Elite: Dangerous is already available via a pre-release Beta that anyone can purchase, though the event will certainly provide a good opportunity for many to sample the title. It joins a further 14 titles so far announced for the show floor along with another 18 in the Rezzed Area.
Elite: Dangerous is a space combat title that puts players in the cockpits of a range of space craft, featuring a diverse range of locations, multiplayer and more. It is the fourth entry in the Elite series, which started in 1984 with developer David Braben still on board for the latest project. It’s not yet clear when the experience will see a full release on PC. VRFocus will continue to follow the title going forward, reporting back with any further updates.
