This week saw the launch of Beta 1 for upcoming space combat title Elite: Dangerous. The beta can be purchased for £50 GBP and comes with access to 55 playable star systems which creator Frontier Developments claims covers 29,000 cubic lightyears as well as a range of multiplayer modes and missions. For those that still need convincing that now is the time to jump into this virtual reality (VR) compatible videogame, a new trailer for the beta can be seen below.
Coming in at just under two minutes, the trailer consists almost entirely of footage from the upcoming title, providing a look at some of the weaponry that players can expect to use in space dogfights. There’s a detailed runthrough of where you’ll find each component of your craft as well as how they can be customised with different paint jobs. The footahe concludes with a spectacular battle over a larger craft.
It is not yet clear just how long Elite: Dangerous will remain in beta, although it already features full support for the Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display (HMD) on PC. VRFocus will continue to follow the title going forward, reporting back with any further updates on its development.
