Next week sees Gamescom 2014 take place on 13th – 17th August in Cologne, Germany. A range of virtual reality (VR) compatible titles are set to be shown off at the event including those from indie developers. One such indie title is space combat experience Darkfield VR from VR Bits, which will be on display at the Indie Arena Booth in Hall 9. The experience with compatible with the Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display (HMD).
Darkfield VR is a cooperative space dogfighting title in which players command a space ship in multiplayer matches of up to 32 participants. The title features six different kinds of ship ranging from faster craft to slow heavy hitters and event boasts a hangar area of a larger ship for players to explore in between matches. An early access version of the videogame is already available via its official website.
VRFocus will be at Gamescom next week to bring you all the latest on the VR industry. Events throughout the week include a press conference from Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) in which its Project Morpheus VR HMD will hopefully be addressed as well as hands on opportunities with plenty of other VR titles.
