The Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) is in no short supply of rollercoaster simulators. The device has enjoyed a range of experimental virtual rides over the past year that seek to replicate the thrill of theme park attractions. This month sees the release of another ride-based experience, though not for a traditional coaster. That experience is Cyber Space.
Available for free over on the official Oculus VR Share beta, Cyber Space is based on a sling shot style experience that catapults players into the air and swings them back round towards the ground. The experience is created with surprising detail, see in the middle of an urban environment that can be seen for miles around at the top. Amusingly, players can eject from the ride and ragdoll out into the environment.
The title is currently available on PC and supports the first development kit (DK1) version of the Oculus Rift. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all applications of VR, bringing you the latest updates.
Update: Another version of Cyber Space, sporting the Oculus Rift’s second development kit (DK2) is available on the title’s website. A Mac version can also be found here.
