Many remember their first time using the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset. Beforehand the very concept of VR seemed so futuristic that some doubted that this headset that simply strapped around your head could truly deliver. All it takes is a few minutes using the technology to realise that the concept is in fact being delivered on in the present day. That’s the experience that Alien: Isolation creative lead Al Hope had when he first tried the Oculus Rift.
Since then Hope and the team at The Creative Assembly have become closely linked to VR, debuting a prototype version of its upcoming survival horror title using the technology at E3 2014 in June. VRFocus spoke to Hope at the event, talking about how the demo came about, what it adds to the experience, and its potential inclusion in the full release.
Alien: Isolation is set to launch on 8th October on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One. VRFocus will continue to follow the title’s development going forward, reporting back with any more updates on its development.
