Fans of the upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible space combat experience Star Citizen have been enjoying a range of updates to the pre-release version of the title so far in 2014. Developer Cloud Imperium Games has proved its dedication to the project throughout 2014 with a steady stream of tweaks and additions for those currently sampling the title. The team is now preparing to release Patch 12.5 for the experience, which will address a range of issues and add a new item for player’s personal spaces.
The update, which is yet to go live, will deal with many of the issues that cropped up after the release of patch 12.4, which increased the title’s current player base by eight times. This update expectedly exposed a number of issues that the developer is currently working on fixing. “The discovery of these kinds of issues this early in the process are going to greatly improve the player experience in the long run and increase our efficiency by getting it right from the beginning,” the developer reasoned in a blog post.
Also included in the update is a new jukebox item for players to use in Star Citizen‘s Hangar module, in which players can explore their own personal space and hub world. Cloud Imperium Games also teasted that a ‘mysterious new Vanduul threat’ would now appear. A specific date for the patch is yet to be announced although the developer did promise that is will issue the update as soon as it is “confident that it offers a broad improvement to the Arena Commander Multiplayer experience.”
It’s not yet known when the full version of Star Citizen will launch. The title features full compatibility with the Oculus Rift VR headset. VRFocus will continue to follow the title’s progress going forward, reporting back with any more updates.
