Austrian indie developer stillalive studios has recently launched a pre-release version of its upcoming action-adventure videogame, Son of Nor. The title, available now via Early Access on Steam, is planning a full launch later on in the year with full support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD). For now, the title can be purchased on PC and Mac for a discounted price of £13.49 GBP, which will increase to £14.99 on 31st July 2014.
Son of Nor is a unique title in which players are cast as one of the Sons of Nor, a small group of humans that have been abandoned by ancient gods in their home of Noshrac. The Sons of Nor use their magically abilities to fight back against the Sarahul, a race of hostile creatures that also inhabit the lost world, aiming to destory all human life. Players will use abilities such as terraforming and telekinesis to defeat enemies. The title features four player online multiplayer and two player co-op that allows for combining these abilities to create unique attacks.
In its current state Son of Nor offers 14 levels to play through. The title aims to stay in Early Access stages for three months, suggesting that it could see launch in either late October or early November 2014. The title will also support SteelSeries eye tracking and the Tobii Eye Tracker as well as the Emotiv Brain Computer Interface, all of which allow players to control their powers in new ways.
VRFocus will continue to follow Son of Nor going forward, reporting back with any more updates on the title’s progress.
