Virtual reality (VR) technology has already been applied to many hobbies and environments since the launch of the Oculus Rift headset’s first development kit (DK1), but few have explored the prospect of gambling so far. That has changed with the launch of a pre-release version of RiftSino, a VR casino that can currently be downloaded for free over on the official Oculus VR Share Beta for both PC and Mac. The title features full support for the Oculus Rift.
RiftSino is described as a ‘fully immersive Vegas style casino experience using stereoscopic 3D’. This version of the software features a playable blackjack demo in which a dealer sits opposite the player as if in a real casino. Slot machine games are also included, while the developer is continuing to work on multiplayer versions of poker, sportsbook and more classic games.
The title uses Leap Motion technology to track the player’s hand motions and provide an immersive, life-like experience. Players will even be able to replicate pulling a slot machine handle and have the movement picked up in-game. That said, there’s also support for keyboard controls as well as the Xbox 360 gamepad.
It’s not clear when the developer will reveal more about the complete version of RiftSino. VRFocus will continue to follow the title’s progress, reporting back with any more updates on it.
