Next month is set to be a big one for indie developer Airel Arias’ first-person horror title, The Hum, as it prepares for its first public showing at Gamescom 2014 on 13th – 17th August. Until then, we’re left being drip-fed information on the virtual reality (VR) compatible experience. Another small update has arrived this weekend in the form of a new screenshot take from gameplay, which can be seen directly below.
The image appears to depict an alien spacecraft in a dark, snowy urban environment. The Hum casts players as the survivor of an alien invasion of earth, tasking them with avoiding enemies as they explore the post-invasion planet. The ship seems to use two targetting lasers, perhaps suggesting that players will have to avoid its sight as they journey around the environment.
The Hum is set to arrive on PC with full support for the Oculus Rift VR headset as well as a planned PlayStation 4 version will support for the Project Morpheus headset. VRFocus will continue to follow the title’s progress going forward, reporting back with any more updates on its development.
