This week sees the release of a brand new virtual reality (VR) experience from indie developer Shinyfish Software Inc. Named Neon Jack, the title is available to download for free over on the official Oculus VR Share Beta on both PC and Mac with support for the Oculus Rift VR headset. A possible Linux version of the title is yet to be confirmed.
Neon Jack is a simple time trial experience in which players race around a course as quickly as possible. According to the title’s description, the story is set in a time that humans can become fully integrated with machines, with players now controlling a decommissioned combat drone. Thy can race around the course for as long as they see fit trying to perfect their times.
The title actually dares to go faster than many other Oculus Rift experiences; many developers are aware of the difficulties of bringing fast-paced experiences to VR, thus have created decidedly slower-paced experiences. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all applications of VR, reporting back with updates on any more releases and the latest news.
