Last month VRFocus reported on the launch of a unique new virtual reality (VR) experience that let users tour a virtual museum dedicated to the videogame industry. That project, named Museum of Games, has now launched on the official Oculus VR Share Beta, where it can be downloaded for free on PC and played with the Oculus Rift VR headset. There currently isn’t any word on possible Mac or Linux versions of the title.
Museum of Games features a range of rooms, dotted with both cover art of titles along the walls and character and prop models of famous protagonists and more along the floor. Hundreds of iconic videogames from the likes of Super Mario, Metal Gear Solid, Diablo and many, many more get their share of space, with character models often resembling their appearance in more recent videogames than older ones.
The project is the work of Thiago Alcantara, who also this week released a Dragon Ball Z experience for the same platform. It isn’t clear if Alcantara inteads to keep adding to Museum of Games as he has done in the past or if this release represents the final build of the experience. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all applications of VR, keeping you in the loop with the latest releases and updates.
