It can be hard to remember that, despite the imminent arrival of the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset’s second development kit (DK2), many people are yet to experience the potential of the technology. While developers and enthusiasts use their headsets on an almost daily basis, most consumers are still left wondering when they will get their first chance to try the Oculus Rift for themselves. Those living in London might want to make note that such a chance will take place later this month.
The Loading Bar in London will be hosting a ‘VR in a Bar’ night on Monday, 28th July 2014. The free event will give people a chance to sample the Oculus Rift with a number of titles, though confirmed videogames are yet to be announced. The night also promises to give people the chance to chat to developers. It isn’t mentioned if either the first development kit (DK1) or DK2 will be at the event, although its likely to be the former given DK2’s limited shipments this launch month.
VR in a Bar starts at 19:45 BST and runs through to 23:45. The bar can be found at 97 Stoke Newington Road, London, N16 8BX. You can register for a free ticket here. VRFocus will continue to follow all upcoming VR-related events, reporting back with any more news and updates.
