Yesterday VRFocus reported on Epic Games stating that indie developer Kite & Lightning had a new version of the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset’s second development kit (DK2). Not only that but, according to the developer, it is to be shown off at the Develop Conference in Brighton next week on 8th – 10th July 2014. At the time the developer wasn’t available to confirm Epic Games’ claims, but now the team has issued confirmation to VRFocus.
“Yup, we can confirm that the DK2 enabled version will be at Develop UK,” the team told us. This is exciting news given that Senza Peso was met with praise by the VR community when it released on PC for the first development kit (DK1) in June 2014. The title is a VR mini-opera which accompanies a 10-minute short film. In both pieces the audience and player explore different realms of the afterlife.
The Develop Conference is expected to host a range of VR events when it takes place next week. Not only will titles like Senza Peso be on display at the event but key VR developers such as nDreams, which is working on The Assembly for Oculus Rift and the Project Morpheus PlayStation 4 VR headset, will be at the event as will Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) London Studio, again talking about Project Morpheus.
More information on Senza Peso and Kite & Lightning’s work can be found on developer’s official website. VRFocus will also be at the Develop Conference next week to bring you all the latest on VR videogames and development.
