Virtual reality (VR) adaptions of famous movie and TV scenes and props have proved popular recently, especially in the sci-fi and anime space. But developers are yet to touch upon one film that is essentially based on true, flawless VR – The Matrix. Now developer Tipatat Chennavasin has released a new VR experience that take’s the fan favourite movie’s ‘Construct’ and adapts it into VR.
The Matrix Rift, as it’s titled, is available now to download for free on PC via the official Oculus VR Share beta. The software gives players a tour of several scenes that use the Construct, which essentially loads users into digital environments. The experience uses the music and dialogue from the movie itself, while Lawrence Fishburne’s character of Morpheus stands talking to the player, who is assuming the role of Neo.
Interestingly, the title also uses help from The Matrix: Path of Neo for its character modelling. The title was made using the Unity engine. Though simple, it’s an effective recreation of one of the most celebrated films in recent history. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all applications of VR, bringing you the latest on them.
