Cyberith, the company behind the Virtualizer motion platform for virtual reality (VR) experiences, has spent much of 2014 teasing its upcoming product. Through new videos and blog updates, the company has continually pointed towards an impending Kickstarter campaign as fan’s first chance to pre-order the device. This week Cyberith has finally revealed just when that Kickstarter campaign will launch and the wait won’t be too much longer. A new video for the device can also be seen below.
As the company confirmed on its official website, the Kickstarter campaign will go live in just under two weeks time on 23rd July 2014. It will serve as the first chance to pre-order to device, though Cyberith is yet to reveal any possible prices for the kit, or the overall funding goal that it hopes to achieve with the campaign. It did however promise that those interested would be able to select different versions of the Virtualizer.
The video below shows the Virtualizer in action, this time working with Battlefield 4 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive, both using the Oculus Rift VR headset. As the clip shows, the device can be used to simulate walking in a videogame, as well as crouching and turning. Weapons are controlled here using a modified Zapper peripheral for the Nintendo Wii, though its not clear if the full product will be using the same solution when it launches.
Look for the Cyberith’s Kickstarter campaign to launch soon, then. VRFocus will continue to follow all the latest news surroudning VR headsets and peripherals, bringing you the latest.
