The Kickstarter campaign for Cmoar’s Personal Smartphone Viewer virtual reality (VR) headset remains ongoing, but that hasn’t stopped the company from releasing its VR Cinema app on Android for people to get an early look at. The app, simply named Cmoar VR Virtual Cinema, is available to download for free and can be used with a range of smartphones, though is designed to work with high-end devices for the most part.
The app places players in a large virtual cinema, allowing them to watch content from any seat within the space. Users need simply look at a virtual remote sitting to the left of them to bring up a virtual menu on the big screen, allowing them to pause and rewind footage. Players can use the app to watch their own content, including movies purchased through Android’s Google Play store and more.
Of course, the app will only be of use to those with the Cmoar Personal Smartphone Viewer, which recently relaunched its Kickstarter campaign with a lowered goal of £60,000 GBP. The campaign is due to end on 14th August 2014 and, at the time of writing, has raised £12,182 towards development and production. VRFocus will continue to follow the headset’s progress, reporting back with any more updates.
