Alien Makeout Simulator Released for Oculus Rift
This week sees the launch of a bizarre and amusing new virtual reality (VR) videogame. A team of independent developers has released Alien Makeout Simulator onto the official Oculus VR Share Beta. The experience is free to download on both PC and Mac, and comes will full support for the Oculus Rift VR headset. A short video showing the unique title in actions can be seen below.
Alien Makeout Simulator is a simple though surreal concept, asking users to kiss a 12-mouthed alien that stands across from them in a dank tavern. Players use the Oculus Rift’s head tracking to help line up their virtual mouth with the alien’s and start kissing. If the player is successful in simulating the kiss then the creature might just invite them back to their spaceship. If unsuccessful then she will advise that the two simply remain as friends.
The title was created as part of the Boston VR Jam which took place between the end of May 2014 and the start of June. There the developer had access to positional tracking hardware not seen in the Oculus Rift’s first development kit (DK1), so the experience has been adapted to suit the device. It’s not clear if an updated version could arrive with the launch of the Oculus Rift DK2 this month.
VRFocus will continue to follow any and all applications of VR, bringing you the very latest.
