SEGA and The Creative Assembly made the bold decision to show a prototype version of the forthcoming Alien: Isolation working as a virtual reality (VR) videogame at last month’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Of course, this sent tongues wagging about the possibility of a full VR edition of the videogame, however no confirmation has since been offered. What has been clarified however, is that The Creative Assembly are very keen on the idea.
Speaking with Gary Napper, Lead Designer on Alien: Isolation, VRFocus learned that the team working on the videogame are very keen on bringing Alien: Isolation to VR head-mounted displays (HMDs). According to Napper, it’s an experience that even the team creating the experience found more immersive that a traditional proscenium arch display. In the interview below he talks about working with the Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus, and also reveals his first experience of Alien: Isolation in VR. Alien: Isolation is set to launch on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on 7th October 2014, and VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details on Alien: Isolation as a VR experience.
