Kingdoms Age is a real-time strategy (RTS) videogame with a difference. While developer Agincourt Gaming’s new title bases itself on the familiar fantasy lore of orcs and elves, the title is set to be one of the first entries in the genre to feature support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset. This week new screenshots for the title have arrived, including a first look at that support.
A total of five new images for the experience can be seen below. While they include a look at the title’s units locked in combat, one in particular shows a player using the Oculus Rift headset. As the developer has already detailed, players will be able to use the headset to assume the perspective of one of the title’s powerful hero units. In this instance, the player can be seen taking on a dragon through the eyes of such a unit.
It certainly promises to be one of the more unique experiments with the technology seen so far. Elsewhere, Kingdoms Age offers a single-player campaign as well as a persistent multiplayer mode in which players battle for the control of in-game territory either fighting neutrally or forming alliances in kingdoms and eventually building up their own factions for other players to become a part of.
The title currently doesn’t have a release date, though it will be coming to PC, Mac and Linux. VRFocus will continue to follow Kingdoms Age‘s progress, reporting back with any more updates.
