Indie developer Nick Pittom has updated his recently released virtual reality (VR) adaption of the bus stop scene from Studio Ghibli’s My Neighbour Totoro. The title only released late last week but has already been upgraded to version 1.1 with ‘much better performance’ than what was on offer before. The fan project is available to play with the Oculus Rift VR headset on PC for free.
The updated version is available to download over on Road to VR. It’s not clear if Pittom will be improving the project further. Players can tour the catbus scene, interacting with a few objects and taking in the cel-shaded sights. This marks the second of three planned anime VR adaptions from Pittom, the final one being based on the Cowboy Bebop series. It’s set to tackle new areas for the developer such as dialogue.
Once the developer has finished work on the next project he plans to move onto his first full VR title, Decay Theory. VRFocus will continue to follow Pittom’s progress and report back with all the latest updates on his work.
