Big Finish Games has announced that its recently released sixth entry in its Tex Murphy series, Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure, will be receiving support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset. The developer didn’t confirm when the support would arrive, other than noting that it would be ‘coming soon’. The title is available on both PC and Mac, with a Linux version also due to arrive in the future.
The developer announced the support in a video update that can be seen below. Tesla Effect: a Tex Murphy Adventure is a story-driven adventure title that uses live-action cutscenes to present its narrative as well as fully explorable 3D environments for gameplay. Players search for clues and interact with items in first-person, solving puzzles and using a branching conversation system to interact with other characters.
Big Finish Games also confirmed that the title would be going on sale on two digital platforms this month. The first is GOG, which has the experience on sale from today, 13th June 2014, and the other is Steam which will discount it from 20th June. The video below shows the development team working with the first version of the Oculus Rift’s development kit (DK1), although it is nearing the time for the launch of the second version, DK2. Will the developers utilise the likes of positional tracking that the upgrade allows for?
VRFocus will continue to follow the progress of Telsa Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure and report back with any more updates on its VR support.
