SUPERHOT Gets Replay Mode
The developers behind upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible first-person shooter (FPS) SUPERHOT have seen huge success with their Kickstarter campaign for the title. Funding passed its initial $100,000 USD goal within the first 24 hours and the first two stretch goals for better animations and a speedrun mode followed closely behind. It has admittedly taken the team a little longer to pass its next goal, though it did so today, unlocking a replay mode for the experience.
The replay mode will equip players with the tools to relive their playthroughs of the videogame’s various levels. SUPERHOT is an action title in which time moves only when the player does, meaning they can methodically negotiate their way towards the enemy, dodging bullets before seizing a weapon and taking them out. It’s easy to see how a replay mode would fit into the experience, allowing players to rewatch past successes, perhaps with the options to fashion the action into a stylish clip.
The replay mode stretch goal was set at $200,000, meaning the campaign as a whole has now more than doubled its initial goal. The next stretch goal, which unlocks a new game + option, is set at $230,000, with two more unrevealed goals sitting behind that. The campaign is due to finish in a week’s time on Saturday, 14th June 2014. Can the developers pull off the additional funding for the title in the remaining time?
SUPERHOT is due to launch on PC, Mac and Linux in June 2015. The title will feature full support for the Oculus Rift VR headset. The developer has also said that it would like to bring the title to consoles, though there isn’t any word on if this could include the PlayStation 4 and Project Morpheus VR headset.
