It’s full steam ahead for Tammeka’s upcoming sci-fi racer Radial-G this week. Ahead of the launch of the title’s Kickstarter campaign and demo on 3rd July 2014, a Steam Greenlight campaign has been published. The campaign hopes to secure enough positive votes for the virtual reality (VR) compatible title to have it approved for sale on Valve’s digital store come full release. Those interested can vote for the title on its official Greenlight page.
Radial-G is a futuristic racer that features full support for the Oculus Rift VR headset. Racers take place on gravity-bending heat pipes on which players can drive all around, hitting speed gates to achieve faster times and taking on friends in multiplayer racers. The title sits players in a cockpit view, allowing them full freedom to glance around their vehicle and race tracks using the Oculus Rift’s head-tracking. A standard non-VR version of the title will also be available.
Next week’s demo will give players a taste of Radial-G‘s single-player options and help them decide on whether to pledge in the Kickstarter campaign. It’s not yet clear just what goals said campaign will be aiming for. A website launched yesterday did however reveal that the developer hopes to bringing the title to the Project Morpheus VR headset on PlayStation 4 further down the line. VRFocus will continue to follow Radial-G, bringing you any new updates on it.
