Oculus VR, the company behind the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset, has announced the next VR videogame it is to publish, following CCP Games’ EVE: Valkyrie. The title, named Lucky’s Tale, is a third person platform videogame being developed by Playful. The title is set to be revealed in full next week at E3 2014 and will be playable at Oculus VR’s booth, joining Digital Combat Simulator.
The developer behind Lucky’s Tale was founded by Paul Bettner, one of the creators of popular social title Words with Friends. A blog post from Oculus VR revealed that Bettner was in fact one of the original Kickstarter backers for the Oculus Rift, pledging $5,000 USD to the campaign. The companies have apparently been collaborating ever since Bettner visited the original Oculus office in October 2012.
“We’re excited to be officially involved with this project,” Oculus stated, “and we’re looking forward to seeing them refresh one of our favorite genres.”
We’re yet to see any footage or screenshots from Lucky’s Tale, though the title’s logo can be seen above. Expect to see the first media for the title launch during E3, which runs from 10th – 12th June 2014. VRFocus will be at the event to bring you all the latest on Lucky’s Tale and everything else VR.
