The 2014 Eurogamer Expo (EGX) is fast approaching, getting ready to take place at Earls Court, London on 25th to 28th September. As such, the outlet has recently announced the first videogames and companies confirmed to be exhibiting at the public event. While virtual reality (VR) has had a presence in years prior, this year is set to be bigger than ever for the technology, with Oculus VR running its own dedicated stand for the Oculus Rift VR headset.
The popular VR headset will be allowing UK attendees the chance to finally go hands-on with the technology. It’s yet to be confirmed just which version of the headset will be on display, though its more than likely that it will be the second development kit (DK2), which has featured at most major videogame events in the build up to its launch next month. As for the titles on display, neither EGX or Oculus VR have announced that will be on display at the booth.
That said, a number of titles that include Rift support to some degree are set to have a presence. Gaijin Entertainment will be bringing its online combat title War Thunder to the event. Sega will also be showing off Alien: Isolation, though it’s not clear if this will be the Oculus Rift demo that debuted at E3 2014, or a standard demo. Also in attendance is Mike Bithell with his upcoming title, Volume. Bithell’s latest hasn’t been confirmed for Oculus Rift support, although the indie developer was experimenting with the technology last month.
More announcements about the EGX 2014 line-up are bound to arrive in the coming weeks and months. Gamescom 2014 is also set to take place before the event in August in Germany, perhaps this event will give us a glimpse of what will be on display in London. VRFocus will continue to follow the event and report back with any more updates for VR.
