Virtual reality (VR) meetups are a popular way to gather a community of local developers and enthusiasts to discuss the technology. Most of them are based on region, with San Francisco and Los Angeles proving to be popular events. Tonight sees one of the industry’s biggest developers host one such meetup for the east coast of the USA. That developer is Epic Games, which is hosting a meetup organised by technology enthusiast Henry Velez at its North Carolina headquarters tonight.
The meetup takes place starts at 18:30 ET and carries on until 20:30 at 620 Crossroads Blvd, Cary, North Carolina. The event’s capacity is set at 200 people, with 136 spaces already taken, so anyone in the area and could likely still find a space.
Epic Games has confirmed that a representative of from Oculus Rift maker Oculus VR will be at the event and is bringing the device’s second development kit (DK2) along with them. Also on display with be the Oculus Rift DK1 and the HD prototype as well as Leap Motion technology, the Razer Hydra motion controller and PrioVR full-body motion controller. Epic Games itself is likely to show off its Couch Knight demo at the event, which it will be releasing with DK2 next month.
