Indie developer Blackthorn Media has revealed its anticipated launch windows for both the Kickstarter campaign and its full release of the upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible experience, Dragonflight. The team has confirmed that it hopes to launch its crowdfunding campaign later in summer 2014, with a full release hopefully following in spring 2015. The title is heading to both iPad and PC with support for the Oculus Rift VR headset on the latter.
Dragonflight is described as a multiplayer aerial combat title inspired by the likes of Panzer Dragoon. Players using an Oculus Rift will find themselves riding on the back of a dragon with control over its movements and attacks. Few solid details about the title have been confirmed and the developer promises that there it still a long way to go in its development. As a Reddit Ask Me Anything session for the title revealed, the team is seeking investors, which could end up deciding if the title even needs a Kickstarter campaign or not.
Blackthorn Media is also adding a back story to support ‘different play experiences’. It wasn’t mentioned if that could mean the title also features a single-player mode. Details on the kind of funding goal the team is looking for weren’t revealed, though it did later suggest that the PC version of the title could be priced between $15 – $20 USD. VRFocus will continue to follow Dragonflight‘s progress going forward and report back with any more news and updates.
