Lucid VR has posted a new video of its upcoming virtual reality (VR) experience, ZVR Apocalypse, showcasing the experience’s ‘improved anatomic dismemberment technology’. The video features the zombies that were teased in yesterday’s images literally being shot to pieces. It shows the effect that gunfire will have on the enemies, often reducing them to little more than a pile of dismembered body parts.
The video, which can be seen below, is certainly an impressive display for the technology, suggesting perhaps an evolution of the strategic dismemberment tactics previously seen in titles such as Electronic Arts’ Dead Space series. The developer didn’t reveal any actual gameplay showing the technology in action, though it’s not hard to image how it might fit into the title once a gun is in player’s hands.
It’s not yet clear how or when ZVR Apocalypse will release. A gameplay video was revealed at this year’s Game Developer’s Conference (GDC), but it’s not clear how much progress the title has made since then. It is set to arrive with support for the Oculus Rift VR headset. VRFocus will continue to follow the experience’s progress and report back with all the latest developments.
