Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) has set a date for its upcoming E3 2014 press conference in which it will talk about the future of the PlayStation 4 and, hopefully, its Project Morpheus virtual reality (VR) headset. The company will hold its show on 9th June 2014 in Los Angeles, California, beginning at 18:00 PST or 02:00 BST on 10th June in the UK. That positions the show in its traditional E3 slot, making it the last press conference of the day after Microsoft, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft have had their turns.
Just what kind of presence Project Morpheus will have at E3 is unknown. The headset was revealed last March at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2014, where Sony stressed that the device was still very much in the prototype stages of development. That said, the company has since shown the kit off to the press and even allowed some developers such as those being Project CARS and Among The Sleep to announce compatibility with the device. Could we see a host of new videogames announced for the device during the show?
SCE has also made various hints about some of the unique features Project Morpheus boasts, such as the ability to display images both inside the headset and on a TV screen at the same time. Just this week it suggested that the PlayStation Vita could be used to interact with players using the headset.
Ultimately what we see of Project Morpheus at E3 is anyone’s guess but VRFocus will be there to bring you all the latest on both it and everything else in VR.
