Indie developer PostMod Softworks has confirmed that it’s upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible title The Old City will be getting a demo this week. The team confirmed as much in an update to its Kickstarter campaign for the Oculus Rift VR headset supported title, stating that the demo would be released for everyone. It is hoping to launch on 21st May 2014 on PC, leaving a week before the Kickstarter campaign ends on 28th May.
According to the developer, the demo will show off the first 2 areas of The Old City. The title is a narrative-driven experience in which players explore the ruins of an ancient civilisation. The full title will start off as a linear experience before expanding into multiple paths with a story that will feature different endings. A new image taken from the experience was also posted, which can be seen below.
The title’s Kickstarter campaign is hoping to raise $40,000 USD to fund development. At the time of writing it has made $12,740 with 9 days left to go. Can the demo turn things around for the project? VRFocus will continue to follow The Old City and report back with any more updates.
