Indie developer pi-max has revealed that it plans to add support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset to its upcoming PC title, The Tide. The developer revealed as much in an update for the experience on it’s Steam Greenlight campaign page. The update reveals a range of improvements that the developer plans to make to the title in the future, including improved visuals and more.
The Tide is an upcoming strategy title that takes much of its inspiration from tower defense titles. Players mine and process blocks, building towers that can be used to combat a race of enemies known as the Tide. Players use different amounts of blocks to create different towers. The title is set to ship with a campaign of over 25 missions.
“While I consider The Tide sufficiently complete to demonstrate its game play, and potential. there are still a number of features and improvements planned for The Tide before it is released, [sic]” the developer wrote. Currently planned features include improved lighting, additional types of blocks and enemies as well as the aforementioned support for the Oculus Rift.
The developer hasn’t yet revealed any release details for The Tide, though it will of course need to pass that Greenlight campaign before going on sale. VRFocus will continue to follow the title’s progress and report back with all the latest.
