New Zealand’s First VR Meetup Takes Place This Weekend

Virtual reality (VR) Meetups have helped the VR communities in both the UK and USA thrive over the past year, and now one is coming to New Zealand. The first full New Zealand Virtual Reality Meetup will take place on Saturday, 17th May 2014 in Auckland. Those interested will be able to go along to the Reef Gallery at 69 – 71 Beach Road between 15:00 – 18:00 NZST to talk about VR and experience some VR demos.

Event organizer Calen encourages those that want to come to contact him if they’d like to bring a laptop to show off a VR project.

VR Meetups may be expanding to other countries, but they’re also growing from where they started. Next week will see the first ever Silicon Valley Virtual Reality (SVVR) Conference & Expo following a year of successful Meetups in Mountain View, California. In the UK, tomorrow sees the second Brighton VR Meetup, while plans are underway for the next Inition and Bossa Studios events in London. They offer a chance for VR developers and enthusiasts alike to meet and talk about the technology.

VRFocus will be at the SVVR Conference & Expo on 19th and 20th May, bringing you all the latest on a range of projects from software to hardware.
