Monstrum is a virtual reality (VR) horror title that wants to stand out from the pack. Yes, it features many of the genre conventions and tropes we’ve seen exercised before, with players restricted to running and hiding instead of standing and fighting. But it also tries something new in the realms of replayability. Monstrum is procedurally developed title, meaning the layout of the derelict ship it’s set on changes every time you play.
VRFocus recently spoke to Team Junkfish’s creative director Adam Dart about this choice and what impact it makes on the title. In the interview above Dart talks about some of the problems with modern horror titles, as well as dishing details about the monster that chases players as they look for a way off of the ship and where VR could go in the future. VRFocus will continue to follow Monstrum and have plenty more coverage of the title in the future.
