Last month Darknet developer E McNeill confirmed to VRFocus that he was ‘happy’ to talk to Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) about a possible PlayStation 4 port of his virtual reality (VR) exclusive title using the Project Morpheus headset. This week the developer has revealed that he has now spoken to the company about such a port, though it is still not clear as to if it will happen or not.
McNeill confirmed that he had spoken to SCE during an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit.
“Maybe!” the developer replied when asked about bringing the title to Project Morpheus. “I’ve talked with some folks from Sony, and of course I want the game to have as broad a reach as possible. But with that said, Oculus has been really great to me so far, and I plan to prioritize the Rift in the immediate future.”
Right now Darknet is planning to launch with the release of the consumer version of the Oculus Rift VR headset on PC. The title is a puzzle-based hacking experience inspired by the likes of The Lawnmower Man and Ghost in the Shell. Players hack into firewalls by beating procedurally developed challenges. The title won last year’s VR Jam under the name of Ciess.
