ANTVR has posted a new video focused on its much touted aspherical lenses fitted to the virtual reality (VR) headset. The video, taken in the company’s work shop, shows a 720p image as displayed through the lens, which it claims gets rid of distortion on standard images. It was posted in a Kickstarter update for the project, which has currently raised over $167,000 USD of its $200,000 goal.
The video, which can be seen below, compares the standard image on a PC monitor to what is being shown in the headset in the right aspect ratio of 4:3. The final kit is said to use a 1080p screen, which the company says it will test ‘soon’. It also claims that users won’t notice a ‘screen door effect’ in which users can see the lines between pixels.
ANTVR’s Kickstarter campaign is due to end on 23rd June 2014. The kit comes with an all-in-one controller that can adapt to take the form of a gun, sword or standard videogame controller. Should the campaign prove successful then the company hopes to launch the set in September 2014. VRFocus will continue to follow the headset’s progress and report back with all the latest.
