ANTVR has passed its Kickstarter goal for its upcoming all-in-one virtual reality (VR) headset. The company has now raised more than its initial target of $200,000 USD to help fund the device’s development and production, with 28 days still left on the clock until its 23rd June 2014 closure. Developer versions of the headset should start being sent out to project backers in July 2014, with beta versions going out to other backers the following September.
ANTVR is a VR headset that’s set to work with sterescopic 3D titles on PC and Android as well as PlayStation and Xbox consoles. It boasts a 1080p display with built-in aspherical lenses to try and rid images of distortion. One of its key features is the all-in-one controller, which can be changed to take the form of a gun, handle or even a traditional controller with buttons. It also features sensors that register one-step movements to replicate in-game motions.
Both wired and wireless versions of the device are set to arrive this year. ANTVR can also be used as a personal display for non-3D videogames as well as movies. Will the device see any success when pitted against the likes of the Oculus Rift VR headset? VRFocus will continue to follow the kit’s development and report back with all the latest updates.
