Tabletop Simulator Hits Steam Early Access

Beserk Games’ upcoming board game simulation title Tabletop Simulator has hit Steam’s Early Access program. A basic version of the experience, which is due to receive support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset, can now be picked up on PC for £8.79 GBP until 25th April 2014, when the price will increase to £10.99. A 4-pack version of the title is also available for £23.99, which increases to £29.99 on the same date.

Tabletop Simulator gives players access to over 15 classic board games. It boasts a sandbox mode that lets you play any type of game in any way you want, with a physics engine that lets you move pieces or wreck havoc in the middle of a match. The title has come to Early Access in lieu of a full release, which was originally planned for April 2014 until the projects Kickstarter campaign proved to be a huge success.

“But due to the overwhelming response and support from our Kickstarter backers and reaching over 1200% of our goal, we wanted to add a lot more content and features so we can bring you the best game possible!” the developer wrote. “We’re still releasing in April, just in Early Access instead and with a lot more features implemented than we initially planned, and with a lot more still to come. Stay tuned!”

The title will be adding support for the Oculus Rift headset in the future, though there was some confusion over if it would still be implemented after Facebook bought Oculus VR. That seems to have been cleared up though, and Oculus Rift support will indeed be coming to Tabletop Simulator. VRFocus will continue to follow the title’s progress and bring you all the latest.
