Hella Games’ upcoming multiplayer title, The Survival Games, has officially passed its Steam Greenlight campaign. The experience, which pits players in last man standing deathmatches, will not be sold on Valve’s digital storefront when it release. It’s set to arrive with full support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset. A Kickstarter campaign to fund the title is due to end on 18th April 2014. It has not yet passed its $20,000 USD goal.
“This happened in only 10 days!” the developer wrote in a Kickstarter update, “We placed The Survival Games on Steam Greenlight on March 24th, and the community gave it the go-ahead way sooner than we anticipated! Steam statistics state that we made it 93% of the way to the top 100. In other words, you approved it before even giving us time to get there! You definitely know how to make a development team feel all warm and fuzzy.”
The Survival Games is a first-person action title that takes its inspiration from The Hunger Games novels and films. Players are dropped into a combat arena and tasked with killing all opponents. The title features elements of survival titles like crafting and players can even form temporary alliances to secure victory. VRFocus will continue to follow the title’s development and report back with all the latest.
