Frost Earth Studio, the development team behind Rift’s Cave, has released an Alpha version of the upcoming project. This early release is available to all those that pre-order the full title via the official Rift’s Cave website. A link to the download will be sent to customers between 1 and 2 days of laying down an order. Rift’s Cave is a first-person exploration title that’s compatible with the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset.
The Alpha version includes a few upgrades from the previously available demo. The original map, which serves as an introduction, is still in place with a number of improvements, but there are all 3 completely new maps to explore. Each area has puzzles to solve, while players will have new abilities and more voice acting will be in place. The player will also have a 3D avatar put in place; something that was missing from the original demo.
Frost Earth Studio stressed that there are still issues and bugs present in this version of the title. Rift’s Cave successfully passed an IndieGoGo campaign last month and is still running a Steam Greenlight campaign. If everything goes to plan, it should be out in either Q4 2014 or Q1 2015. VRFocus will continue to follow the title and report back with all the latest.
