Indie developer Pixel Router VR has brought its recently released demo for the upcoming Rift Wars to the official Oculus VR Share Beta. The sample of the virtual reality (VR) title was previously available to download via MediaFire and Amazon Cloud Drive but can now be picked up for free on the Oculus Rift headset maker’s official website, which hosts a range of VR experiences for users to try.
Rift Wars is a sort of on-rails shooter in that the player is always moving forward, but can dodge obstacles by moving left, right, up and down. Players sit in the cockpit of an armed craft, shooting cubes that release gems. The object of the title is to collect these gems by locking on to them with the Oculus Rift’s head tracking technology and then pulling them in with a tractor beam. Collecting gems increases a score multiplier.
The title boasts a unique sci-fi art style and requires an Xbox controller for play. It is currently available to download on PC, with no word on a Mac or Linux release just yet. VRFocus will continue to follow Rift Wars‘ progress leading up to the launch of the full experience, whenever that may be.
