Developer Fresh3D Inc’s upcoming Outcast HD reboot has launched a Steam Greenlight campaign in hopes of securing enough positive votes to be sold on Valve’s digital store come releases. The title is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to raise $600,000 USD before 7th May 2014 to fund the project, which also features a $1,000,000 stretch goal for full support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset.
Outcast HD is a full revamp of the 1999 PC original. The team is hoping to reimagine the action-adventure experience with fresh, sharper textures, improved character models and more. The developer also aims to expand upon the first title with a $1,700,000 stretch goal for a brand new world to explore, stating “Let’s pave the way towards Outcast II, together.”
At the time of writing, the campaign has raised $237,600 with 9 days to go. Should it prove successful then the title hopes to launch in October 2015. VRFocus will continue to follow the Outcast HD reboot’s progress and report back with any the latest developments concerning VR.
