Developer Killing Day Studios has confirmed that its upcoming first-person shooter title, Earth: Yeah 2066, will launch on Steam Early Access tomorrow, 17th April 2014. The experience is set to arrive with full support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset. It is launching in Early Access so that the developers can help shape the full title with the feedback and suggestions of those that play it now.
Earth: Yeah 2066 is an open-world experience inspired by the likes of Half-Life and Fallout. Players are cast as a survivor of a nuclear war, mutated by its effects and seeking sanction in a place known as ‘God’s House’. Players must survive whatever the wasteland throws at them while journeying there. The Early Access version features a combat arena mode with only a part of this setting available to explore.
The full release is said to be closer to the likes of Day Z or Rust with more players in the world. The developer hopes to add in co-op, narrative, a crafting system and more in the near future.
Earth: Year 2066 is aiming to stay in Early Access for roughly a year before moving into a full release. It will be available for $20 USD in its early state, though the full title will be priced at $30. VRFocus will continue to follow the title’s development and report back with all the latest.
