Developer Recreates Roman Pantheon in Virtual Reality

Indie developer and 3D artist Peter J Fisher has created a new virtual reality (VR) experience letting users tour The Pantheon in Rome, Italy. The experience, released on the official Oculus VR Share Beta, is available to download on both PC and Mac, with no word on a possible Linux version yet offered. The title is free to try and works with the Oculus Rift VR headset, allowing you to stand inside the ancient structure.

“Roman Pantheon VR is simply a recreation of the space in VR,” the developer explained on the official Oculus VR website. “All details are kept to a minimum to help maximize performance. Updates will come as I create more basic models and textures.”

The title should work with a keyboard and mouse control set as well as gamepads. The developer stressed that the software should be able to run on ‘most computers’ when placed on low settings. It’s one of two projects available from Fisher on his official website, the other being a lighthouse demo that lets you explore a remote coastal area. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all applications of VR and report back with all the latest details.
