Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) is to showcase the Project Morpheus PlayStation 4 virtual reality (VR) headset at a developer event in London next week. The company will be talking about the new device to an audience of videogame developers at the Dolby Lounge in Soho, London next Wednesday, 30th April 2014. A panel of SCEE and third party developers will be on hand to answer questions about the headset, which was revealed last March at the 2014 Game Developers Conference (GDC).
The show will be hosted by Develop as part of its ‘An audience with…’ series. Attending the event will be SCEE senior development manager Simon Benson, developer relations’ Agostino Simonetta, SCE London Studio’s Dave Ranyard and nDreams CEO and founder Patrick O’Luaniagh. Each will sit in on the panel and fire off their thoughts on Project Morpheus and developing for the hardware.
Ranyard’s team was one of the first to show off software running on Project Morpheus with its GDC tech demo, The Deep. O’Luaniagh and nDreams have recently confirmed that they’re working on several cross-platform VR titles that will support both the Oculus Rift headset and Project Morpheus.
The event is sure to attract the attention of developers that are currently working with the Oculus Rift. VRFocus has spoken to a range of indie developers since the reveal of Project Morpheus, each of which has expressed interest in bringing their Oculus Rift projects over to the PlayStation 4 with support for the new headset.
Entrance to the event is by invite-only, with 55 spaces open for developers. You can email firstname.lastname@example.org to apply to a spot, with successful entries being contacted next week. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all developments in the VR industry and bring them to you.
