Darknet Developer ‘Happy’ to Talk Project Morpheus With Sony

E McNeill, the developer behind the upcoming virtual reality (VR) exclusive title Darknet, has confirmed that he would be ‘happy’ to look into bringing his title to the PlayStation 4’s Project Morpheus VR headset. Speaking to VRFocus, McNeill said that, while he hasn’t heard from the company since the announcement, he’d like to talk with them about it. Currently Darknet is aiming to be a launch title for the Oculus Rift VR headset.

Darknet_1“Sony, of course, just announced Project Morpheus,” McNeill said when asked if he would bring the title to other headsets. “I haven’t heard anything from Sony since the announcement, but I’d be happy to talk to them if they have anything to say. I don’t know how easy it is to support both platforms, and I don’t know if either platform will be requiring exclusivity, so it’s hard to say anything at the moment.”

Darknet is a futuristic hacking title inspired by the likes of The Lawnmower Man and Ghost in the Shell. Players attempt to hack into firewalls by besting procedurally-developed puzzles. It was originally a grand prize winner at last year’s VR Jam under the name of Ciess, and has since moved into full development. The title will be on display at PAX East next week.

VRFocus will continue to report on Darknet, and will be bringing you the full Q&A with McNeill and a preview of the title in the near future.
