Developer White Lotus Interactive has offered comment on the future of virtual reality (VR), given the recent introduction of Sony Computer Entertainment’s Project Morpheus headset for PlayStation 4. The developer, which is currently working on the Oculus Rift compatible Xing: The Land Beyond, stated that they welcomed the competiton with the PC headset.
“Sony’s done a lot of experimentation with VR, well before Oculus was a company, back when Palmer was a baby,” said the team’s John Torkington in a full interview with Medium. “But so far they haven’t found much consumer success.
“White Lotus is interested in developing awesome VR content that is translatable to whatever VR tech is out there. We don’t care if it’s Oculus or Sony or whoever, because more players just invites more competition, more collaboration, and making more cool things.”
The developer didn’t offer any comment on if it would be bringing its own title to Project Morpheus, although it did state that it was anticipating the arrival of the Oculus Rift DK2 and integrating its changes into Xing: The Land Beyond. VRFocus will continue to follow the title and all other VR compatible videogames and report back with the latest.
