The Virtuix Omni is undoubtedly one of the most unique input solutions for virtual reality (VR) titles. Players stand on an omni-directional treadmill and run around virtual environments with an Oculus Rift VR headset strapped to their head. It even picks up jumping. VRFocus recently got the chance to chat with company founder and CEO Jan Goetgeluk about the device during the Game Developers Conference 2014 in San Francisco.
In the video about Goetgeluk tells all about the Omni. There’s a brief rundown of how the device works as well as a discussion about just how safe it is to jump when using a treadmill with the Oculus Rift. As stated in the video, the consumer version of the product will be launching this July. VRFocus will continue to follow the product’s development and report back with all the latest.
