Star Rift, a space simulation videogame from Tri-Force Interactive, has successfully passed its Steam Greenlight campaign. The virtual reality (VR) supported experience was initially posted on 8th April 2013 and is one of 50 titles to be Greenlit on Valve’s digital storefront this week. The title comes with support for the Oculus Rift VR headset.
As the developer explains on its official Steam page, Star Rift is designed to completely utilize the Oculus Rift’s technology. The story centers on test space pilot Rod Conrad, who ends up lost in space and needs to create ‘rifts’ to travel back to Earth. Players travel around a solar system avoiding hazards like super novas and black holes.
Star Rift started development in Febraury 2013. The team had said it would deliver Steam Early Access support as soon as the title passed Greenlight, so expect an update soon. Tri-Force Interactive has promised that the game will be compatible with standard monitors as well as the Oculus Rift. VRFocus will continue to follow the title and bring you all the latest on its development.
