Indie developer Andrea Marinelli and the team at Frost Earth Studio have successfully secured funding for an upcoming virtual reality (VR) exploration title, Rift’s Cave. Marinelli was aiming the raise $1,000 USD via the Indiegogo crowd sourcing site, and ended up reaching $1,005 a short while before the campaign’s completion. The money will go towards buying a license for the engine used to develop the title, which is designed for use with the Oculus Rift VR headset.
Rift’s Cave is a first-person exploration and adventure title. Players can tour a varied landscape, gathering artifacts and documents as well as solving puzzles to progress through the environment. The developer is yet to comment on the campaign’s success, although it’s also running a Steam Greenlight campaign to help make it available on Valve’s digital storefront.
Frost Earth Studio is looking to release Rift’s Cave in either Q4 2014 or Q1 2015. It will be available on Windows, Mac and Linux. While the title natively supports Oculus Rift, it is not necessary to for play. VRFocus will continue to follow Rift’s Cave’s progress and report back with all the latest.
